Named the ‘Home Energy Advice’ pilot and funded by Welsh Government, the service will test and measure the effectiveness of providing in-home advice and support to people to help reduce their energy use and save money.
The fuel poverty crisis has been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, with an estimated 155,000 homes in Wales struggling to afford a safe and warm environment.
Households taking part in the pilot will receive support such as help to switch energy suppliers, switching to digital metering and support on managing fuel debts. The project is committed to a holistic approach to energy advice, ensuring people not only save money, but improve their general health and wellbeing.
Julian Pike, Director of Housing and Communities at United Welsh said:
“Efficient energy consumption is beneficial for individuals and the wider communities where they live. Homes become more affordable for people to run and carbon emissions are reduced.
“This pilot, led by Warm Wales, is a positive step in tackling fuel poverty in Caerphilly and beyond. United Welsh is proud to participate to support our tenants and to help shape the future of energy advice.”
United Welsh is looking for tenants living in Caerphilly to take part in this project.
